'ELLO OLD CHUMS!

My name is Danielle Delain, I am a 23 years old! I attend the University of South Carolina! (U-S-C GOOOO COCKS!)

I am so proud of my major which happens to be Broadcast Journalism and I am minoring in Fashion Merchandising.

I will be graduating MAY 7TH 2010! (*shrieking at this very moment*)

I am the perfect lady to be the new MISS Young and Free SC! That's right, eat your HEART out fellas! Josh got it started for the guys, but this MISS plans to represent for the ladies!

I love people and new experiences! I am confident, eager to learn and friendly to everyone I meet!

This year, the new Young and Free spokesperson needs spunk.

And this kid's got it.

Here is Danielle's blog post:

If you ever see “D.D. ♥'s B.J. 4-Ever” dug into the bark of a tree, you won't have to wonder, it was most certainly my doing.

Yes, I'm talking about my boyfriend B.J.

B.J. as in Broadcast Journalism.

B.J. is not an easy guy to be in a relationship with, he is extremely demanding of my time.
But I can vividly recall exactly how B.J. swept me off my feet....

*staring off into space*

OOPS! Sorry.

Well, let me just start from the beginning. It was in my Senior Semester Broadcast Journalism class and I was listening to my professors.

”Treat this class like it's a real job,” they said.

I most certainly didn't think a mere class would consume my life, but needless to say I was wrong. Terribly Wrong.

“What the?!” I screamed to myself. One class from 8am to 5pm? Every day? For 5 months straight?

I didn't exactly know about this guy, Broadcast Journalism.  He sounded like a hassle to me.

Initially our relationship took some getting used to, having to think of a compelling/relevant news story, gathering and making all the interview contacts, writing the story, shooting the story and editing the story myself all by 4 o'clock pm. Whew! It was certainly a challenge.

I knew the foundation of building a great relationship but I just kept screwing up the stuff I knew, missed deadlines, interviews framed and shot wrong, jump cuts, lighting too dark, audio panned wrong and the list just continued.

I had my mind make up, I was so over B.J.

He was so handsome, but just TOO much work for me.  But after some careful thinking, I was NOT gonna just fail with my new beau.

The more and more we hung out the more and more I got the hang of things again.

The way he softly beckoned me to meet him at 4 o'clock pm SHARP or sooner (along with the barks of the producers) was wonderful.  The way my hands got clammy at around 3:30 pm in anticipation of his arrival was even better.

But I especially, loved his sweet kiss of success. The sweet success of finishing on time and the sweet success of delivering a captivating/relevant news story that people enjoyed.

Yes B.J. and I made a great team.

I love him dearly and am crazy about him. People tell me all the time that he won't make much money for us, but I don't care, my love for him is all that I need. My passion and my drive to see us go places is JUST enough for me.

And please believe we are CERTAINLY going places. This is only the beginning.

Danielle...You had me for a bit with the boyfriend. I had to start over. Love the way you described BJ. Entertaining and funny...Good Luck girl, hopefully you and BJ will last but if not remember Y&F might sweep you off your feet. Would love to see you as the next Y&F but remember you got to keep it exciting for a year at least. Hard work, don't let up or let your guard down and you might just make young and free your fiance. Much Luck!

I too had a first love Aim High. He swept me off my feet. I too was a little unsure of the relationship at first. We soared the heavens for 22 years but I got home sick. Aim High is strill soaring, but he's moved on to capture other hearts. When I took that oath with the Air Force and Aim High we were committed for life. Some stay for a short time but all are proud for a lifetime. So like BJ, he'll always be in your heart but don't feel bad for leaving him behind. He will find others to kiss with success! Good Luck, Best Wishes and God Speed!
