Here is Hunter's current situation:
I am working full time at VarnerMiller.com, LLC, receiving school credit-hours for interning, and I am still enrolled at Trident Technical College as a full time student, majoring in Film.
I have been waiting for this moment for a whole year. I had a blast and gained so much experience from last year's spokesperson search and I am ready for this one.
I currently work with media professional's at VarnerMiller, delivering our products in a timely manner and I am understanding the industry. I know with my past year-experiences, I am what S.C. Federal Credit Union is looking for.
Here is Hunter's blog post:
I really want to talk to my 18-25 year old crowd about hard-work and why you shouldn't give up, even when you feel like it.
I tried last year for the YoungFreeSC 2009 position and worked extremely hard...or so I thought.
My networking skills jumped leaps and bounds after the 2009 search ended and I felt the urgency to put my losses in the past and start working towards next year.
I admit, I was still disappointed about not making it into the top 3 but trust me, everything happens for a reason.
I went back to school after that summer and started to freelance whenever I could. I created Real-Estate videos, worked on local documentaries, did extra work on Army Wives, worked as a casting director on "Dear John", and was an extra in a local independent film.
After all of that, I re-applied for an internship at VarnerMiller and have been working for them ever since and I love it.
I know because of my dedication after last year's search, I now have a wonderful job and get paid for doing what I love.
I have slowly but surely understood the power of hard-work and what it feels like to work full time. I wanted to give up, trust me, but I knew the hardship would subside and I finally had made it.
If I am offered the chance to work as the YoungFreeSC 2010 spokesperson, I will work to the best of my abilities and have fun doing it.
Thank you "again" for this opportunity and I hope I can set an example for "hard-work" and why you should never settle in life. Do what you love and love doing it.
