Here is Gloria's current situation:
"I am currently finishing up two classes before I graduate and working four jobs. I love anything that has to do with the 80's or 90's as well as people, my friends, family and faith. John Cusack movies are my obsession."
Here is Gloria's blog post:
"Have you ever thought about how the past makes us who we are? That the struggles we go through really do make us stronger for the future.
In middle school I was tormented and made fun of by almost every person who knew me. After moving to South Carolina the torment died down a lot but did not stop. During my senior year in high school, I decided that I did not want to go into college being the same scared, lonely, emotional girl that I had been. My freshman year in college was the year I completely reinvented myself. I no longer sat by myself alone or hid in the bathroom to avoid the paranoia that everyone was making fun of me. I bounced from table to table every meal, talking with different people so that I could know every possible person that there was.
My senior year in college was the peak of my young existance. I was senior class president, station manager of the campus radio station and nominated to be the homecoming representative for the entire Mass Communications department. Not only did I represent the department at homecoming, but I also placed as the 2nd runner up!
It was in the moment that my name was called that I knew I had nothing to fear. I was not the same girl I had once been. I was becoming the women that I was meant to be. I was strong, popular, independent, hardworking and most importantly, I was loved.
My entire existence is based around the fact that I want to change the world. I never want anyone to feel the way I felt throughout middle school. Changing the world starts with changing South Carolina. I want to share the love I have with anyone I meet in hopes that they too will catch the fever. Being chosen for this job would enable me the chance I need to change the world. My past is a tough one, but my future is a bright one. I hope to share the light with all of you.
Gloria"
