Band name:
Low Country Destroyer
Band line-up:
Koby Shaw (guitar and vocals)
Luis Hernandez (bass and lead vocals)
Josh Colvin (drums)
Band bio:
The band was originally conceived in the fall of 2004, when a drunken bass player, but not yet vocalist – Luis Hernandez – was being obnoxiously loud about the desire to get a band together and was overheard by a waitress at the bar he was at. The waitress was the wife of a guitarist not yet (full time) drummer - Josh Colvin- . After trading information the bass player and the drummer joined causes, along with original singer Jamie Parker and guitarist Kevin Zorn (Speedy Claxton) the band Romero was formed. After a couple of months jamming, the band decided to find a new singer. Again Hernandez would be crucial in the discovery of the bands singer not yet guitarist – Koby Shaw – while at work in a restaurant. In late 2005, Hernandez left the band and relocated to Wisconsin. The band Romero disbanded in late 2006 after guitarist Kevin [Zorn] left to attend college. Left without a guitarist and artistic direction Hernandez and Colvin reunited with Jamie Parker on guitar. With a handful of songs which were written while in Wisconsin “I Am” and “Unveil My Evil” the band resurfaced under the name Black Halo and recorded a 3 song demo in early 2007 with the assistance of Shane Baldwin. Soon thereafter singer Koby Shaw, who had replaced Hernandez on Bass after his departure, returned to play in Black Halo as a singer/lead guitarist. Still striving to find an official lead singer, the band had booked its first show and now desperately needed a singer. During a practice session, bass player Hernandez sang the newly [current] lyrics for “I Am”… after that moment, the future LCD was formed. After playing only one show under the flag Black Halo, the band and Parker parted ways, and thus Low Country Destroyer as it is was born.
In early 2008 LCD reunited with Shane Baldwin to record another demo “The Gift” and “I Am” with Shaw on guitars and full featured vocals by Hernandez and Shaw. Since the days of Black Halo, LCD has strived to expand its sound and develop itself as a progressive metal glaze band. Thanks to an expansive catalogue of influences, due to sometimes very noticeable differences in music interests of its 3 members, the prototypes of what is in store for Low Country Destroyer’s future is very visible, in the likes of songs such as: “Solar Flares”, “Fetus Defeatus”, “Parallel Synchronized Randomness [PSR]” and “False Hope” where the spectrum range changes from progressive epic to power ballad, to mind trip. Going on 5 years together, and beginning in 2008, Low Country Destroyer has been aggressively playing shows in its home town of Savannah, GA., and expanding their sound, playing successful shows in Charleston and Greenville, SC., and Jacksonville, FL.
In 2008 the band was featured on The Boston Globe's back page spread, thanks to Sarah Colvin. In 2009 the band was featured on The South Magazine's June / July issue in their Harmonious Happenings - Music section and is quoted to say "...favorite Savannah metal band, Low Country Destroyer..."
Currently open for booking, Low Country Destroyer wishes to keep on the trend either as an opening act, invited act or headlining act. ..
