Band name:
Fallen Kings

Band line-up:

Chris Chafin (lead guitar)

Band bio:
The Columbia South Carolina band Fallen Kings formed in early 2007. The band comprises of three high school friends, Chris Chafin, Scott Murff and Josh Holden. Their first band, Below The Water's Edge, saw some local success in the late 90's by playing venues such as the Elbow Room and the New Brookland Tavern but said their most memorable moment came when they played in the world famous Waldorf Astoria ballroom. Josh said "it's hard to top piling in a Chevy Astro and having your stepdad drive your entire band all the way to Manhattan to play a show. We are very fortunate to have always had very supportive families." The group played together for six years but soon faced reality when they were faced with the challenge of going to different schools and disbanded in 2001 in the midst of recording their second album.

Fast forward 11 years. The guys got back together, and it's safe to say that their passion for music was still very much alive, but being that there were only 3 of the 4 original band members returning the band was again faced with a challenge. So after much debate, they decided to only write and record all of their music as a threepiece, freeing up Scott to handle the bass parts, Chris to play all the guitar parts and Josh to lay down the vocal and drum tracks, but recruit a drummer after the completion of the album to give their high energy music, a high energy show to go with it. The group spent the next year and a half writing, not even taking time out to play a show, and finally in October of 2008 released the "Hide me in this World" ep. It didn't take much time to recruit long time friend and former Divot's drummer Demario Jones to take on the drum responsibilities. "It made it easier on us playing with Demario because we already had history together and we also knew eachothers capabilities" said Scott. The band says now that they have a product they are proud of and have solidified their lineup, they are looking forward to what the future has in store for them and hopes that you will be a part of it. (Expecting First Full Length Album Jan. 2010)
