Lowcountry Food Bank's Student Food Drive
Hello everybody! Today I'm happy that I get to tell you all about the Lowcountry Food Bank's first-ever Student Food Drive for the area high schools! Starting this past Thursday and lasting for six weeks, a total of twelve high schools around the lowcountry will be raising as much food as possible for the Lowcountry Food Bank!
The kickoff party was last Thursday night, and I was fortunate enough to be able to emcee part of it! South Carolina Federal Credit Union is a major sponsor of the food drive and thus, so is YoungFreeSC.com! All of the schools that were present at the kickoff party did skits or cheers dealing with their school and the upcoming food drive, and it was my job to tell them all who had the best skit!

The winner was the Charleston School of the Arts, and one of the students got to go on Channel 5 News the next day to represent their school! They also won some free passes for paintball, but every school that came to the party received a check from the Food Bank for $100! With the food drive kicked off right, now the students just have to collect as much food as they can so that their schools can win even more money! It's a real competition to give as much as possible, and the students have a lot of energy and a positive attitude so I'm sure that the results will be amazing. For more pictures from the kickoff, check out all the Flickr photos tagged youngfreesc at the bottom of the site! For more information about the food drive itself, check out the official site here: http://www.lowcountryfoodbank.org/studentfooddrive.asp
Good luck to all the schools participating, and just remember that South Carolina Federal Credit Union and I are able to help with your individual school events if you give us advanced notice!
